The Original PUBG: Battlegrounds Will Be Free-To-Play In January 2022

Save your money when planning on getting the PUBG: Battlegrounds (formerly known as PlayerUnknown Battlegrounds) Battle Royale Game. All you have to do is wait until the 12th of January 2022 as it will be the day that it will become free-to-play. This was first announced three weeks ago by Krafton during the Games Awards.

Since its release in 2017, PUBG has been a paid game on Steam. It became a massive hit that other developers followed suit such as Epic Games with its Fornite and two big name FPS games such as Call of Duty and Battlefield having their own Battle Royale versions. Fortnite became an even bigger Battle Royale game due to its being a free-to-play game in the first place and Call of Duty’s Warzone is also free-to-play.

For those who have purchased the game before 12 January, they will a PUBG – Special Commemorative Pack, which includes a free Battlegrounds Plus upgrade and additional in-game rewards. The Battleground Plus will immediately be given to the accounts of paid owners after their first login when the free-to-play transition is done as well as the other rewards will be distributed to their inventories.


PUBG Plus

There will still be a paid for premium in the firm of Battleground Plus which includes the Ranked Mode, career Medal Tab and the ability to create custom matches.  As for a extra items this will include a Captain’s Camo Hat, Captain’s Camo Mask, Captain’s Camo Gloves, and a Bonus 1300 G-COIN. his will be a one-time fee of US$12.99.

This is not the first time that Krafton released a free-to-play PUBG, the first one is PUBG Mobile which has been downloaded more than a billion times, and they also released a second free-to-play PUBG mobile game, PUBG: New State.

PUBG: Battlegrounds free-to-play will be available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC via Steam, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
