When Ubisoft announced that Tom Clancy’s “Rainbow Six Extraction” video game title was to be delayed in July, they did not reveal any new date for its release. Yesterday, the company announced that it will be released in January 20, 2022 and together with that release is a lower price and two free buddy passes.

The Standard Edition will cost US$39.99 while the Deluxe Edition will be US$49.99 and comes with bonus packs. Each edition comes with buddy passes that the owners can give to friends and have a 14-day free trial with the game. Of course, if they like the game, they can then purchase the edition they prefer.

Based on the “Rainbow Six: Siege” Outbreak mode, it was first announced in 2019 as “Rainbow Six: Quarantine” to the delight of fans, events of the Covid-19 pandemic overtook it that it was given a new name and a new release date. The January 2022 launch is already its second delay as the original release date was supposed to be in September of this year.

As the story goes, the player goes with a team called the Rainbow Exogenous Analysis and Containment Team (REACT) which sets out on a rescue mission and deal with the alien threat called the Archean. It still follows the Rainbow Six: Siege cooperative gameplay but in a different direction. They will have to go against four classes of enemies and players get to choose a character from 18 Rainbow Six operators which include fan-favorite Siege characters.

Pre-ordered copies will come with the Orbital Decay Bundle, two costumes and a weapon skin. Gamers who play Siege will get a United Front Bundle that includes gearsets that unlock in both Siege and Extraction, and will unlock Extraction's operators in Siege.

“Rainbow Six: Extraction” will have cross-play, cross-save, and cross-progression on Google Stadia, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. Those platforms will support the Buddy Pass.
