It’s really definite that an “Extraction 2” movie will be released by Netflix. “Extraction”, starring Chris Hemsworth as Tyler Rake, is the most watched film on Netflix according co-CEO and chief content officer Ted Sarandos who revealed the most watch TV series and films from the streaming behemoth during this year's Code Conference as reported by The Verge.

In the original “Extraction”, we watched Tyler Rake fall off the bridge after he was shot in the neck Farhad, the young henchman who worked for Amir, the Bangladeshi who kidnapped the Ovi, the boy that Rake rescued. At the end of the film , Ovi was in the swimming pool with a blurry image of a man watching over him and many assume that it is Rake who managed to survive after falling off the river.

With the first teaser released, indeed Rake survived the fall and avoided drowning:

During Netflix’s Tudum event last weekend, Hemsworth himself to break the news to everyone, saying “If you thought our first film pushed the limits, wait until you see what Sam and I have planned for this next installment.”

There are no more details about “Extraction 2” movie revealed after the event. What we know is from the first “Extraction” that Tyler Rake is a former Australian Special Air Service Regiment member turned mercenary who undertakes missions for whoever is willing to pay. For the sequel, he will be teaming up again with Sam Hargrave as director. Joe and Anthony Russo are also the producers for this follow-up film. There is no news if Golshifteh Farahani who plays the role of Nik Khan the partner mercenary of Tyler in the first "Extraction" will be joining him again.

The original “Extraction” movie is based on the “Ciudad” 2014 graphic novel that Joe Russo worked on.
