For fans of the Kojima Production’s “Death Stranding” video game that was released in 2019 and dreamed of being able to cosplay Sam Porter Bridges (played by Norman Reedus of “The Walking Dead”), they will soon be able to have an official Ludens Mask as part of their costume. There are only two things that they should be concerned about: first it’s a limited edition release; and second, they might balk at the price.

In October, Kojima Productions tweeted that they are collaborating with the French eyewear company, J.F.REY, producing the HIDEO KOJIMA x JEAN-FRANÇOIS REY CAPSULE COLLECTION which includes the Ludens Mask:

Limited Edition of 888 numbered copies globally. Now available for pre-order with delivery in May 2022.

Under the artistic direction of HIDEO KOJIMA, we have designed the LUDENS mask, the hybrid SLS 3D and metal Bridges frames worn by Sam Porter Bridges.

The LUDENS mask was modeled by our design studio and will be produced with SLS technic. It is equipped with adjustable nosepads and rimlocks for prescription lenses or sunglasses. Ludens mask is a genuine Collector’s item produced in a limited edition. It is delivered in a luxury packaging marked with the HIDEO KOJIMA production house emblem.

The Ludens Mask will be released in a combo with the HKxJF03 sunglasses. Other sunglasses are the HKxJF01 and HKxJF02 which Kojima posted on Instagram without really saying much about these:

“Death Stranding” is a multi-awarded video game created by legendary video game designer Hideo Kojima of the “Metal Gear” series for Konami. Since separating with Konami, he set up Kojima Productions as an independent studio and partnering with Sony Computer Entertainment, producing “Death Stranding” as the first video game title.

The Ludens Mask is based on the Kojima Productions Mascot Suit, with Kojima himself being the man behind the mask. The company’s slogan is “From Sapiens To Ludens” which pertains to “Homo Ludens”, a book written by Dutch historian and cultural theorist Johan Huizinga which is about the importance of play in culture and society. The Ludens Mask was designed with Homo Ludens in mind, to remind the wearers not to forget their playful side.

As for the price, the Lumens mask will be going for US$575.00. Phew! As for the sunglasess, forget about using them as eyepro for airsoft as they're mainly lifestyle glasses. But someone may just want to replicate the HKxJF03 sunglasses with ANSI Z87.1 rating for airsoft use.
