KSC Glock 19

Anonymous (not verified)

This is probably the oldest pistol in the Wildcats arsenal. I got this about close to three years ago as my first airsoft weapon. It was on sale at that time for GBP69.00 and when I got it I said to myself; “this is the only airsoft weapon I’ll be getting… I will not let myself be drawn in to this fad…” NOT!!! Three years on and five AEGs later this “fad” still has a tight grip on me a grip so tight that I stay awake most nights until the wee hours of the morning surfing, writing, and doing anything that even has the slightest hint or relation to airsoft.

Glock is a name for a family of semi-automatic pistols designed and produced by the Austrian company Glock GmbH. The Glock 19 is a reduced-size Glock 17, It is called the “Compact” by the manufacturer. It was first produced in 1988, primarily for military and law enforcement.

AIRSOFT

The Glock 19 is an all metal, gas blow back (GBB) pistol that comes with a 20 round magazine as standard.

This GBB pistol is a light weight side arm/secondary weapon. It does not weigh you down at all. In the field it is quite reliable; accuracy and reliability are its key features. Construction is of polycarbonate lower receiver and a full metal gas blowback slider. During its heyday it was definitely a nice piece of kit to have. Being one of the first to have front rails to accommodate tactical lights and laser sighting systems.

This pistol has seen little use but a lot of action. Most of the time it has just sat snugly in either my thigh holster or the molle holster of my CIRAS. The most number of times that it has been taken out of the holster was when we played Urban Games in Longmoor. By this time the Glock 19 has been superseded as a pistol of choice by most airsofters. I however on the other hand still like it as much as the day I first laid my eyes on it.

Nowadays though despite religious cleaning and generous sprays of silicone this pistol definitely looks and performs its age. It has a shorter range and no amount of fiddling or putting Teflon tape and such has remedied this.

I think the spring does need replacing as well. I found a good one at the King Arms website I just need to find out whether it will fit this Glock 19.

It has since lost its rear sight as well. Which probably the only complaint I have of this pistol from the onset. It would have been a good idea if it were fixed/attached as with the front sight. There were a few instances wherein it came off got lost and found again during a days skirmishing. But having had this happen once too many I just set it aside and never put it back on again. Now it seems I hid it quite well that I cannot remember where I hid it.
