The pistol preferred by the U.S. Navy SEALS until it got replaced in 2015 by the Glock 19 is back again. Revitalised in cooperation with the ZE Technlogies, SIG Sauer announced the release of the SIG P226 ZEV SAO Pistol last week.

The P226, or called as the MK25 Mod 0 when it was adopted by the U.S. Navy SEALs and DEVGRU in 1989, is a double-action (DAO) handgun that was intended for the P226 was designed for the XM9 Service Pistol competition by the U.S. Army but was won by the Beretta 92 that became to be known as the M9 service sidearm.

The P226 ZEV though is a SAO or single-action 9mm pistol as compared to the P226.  ZEV Technologies equipped it with the signature ZEV slide and comes standard with the SIG Romoe1PRI Micro Red Dot to make in line with pistol releases these days that are optic ready and it also has threaded 4.9-inch dimpled barrel. Another ZEV Technologies touch are the G10 grips, ZEV Tech fixed drift fiber optic sights, and ZEV Tech Optic Cut.

The handgun will put a big dent on your bank account as it is being sold for $2,097.99 and comes with three 15-round steel magazines.

It would be interesting if ZEV would allow a kit for an existing P226 airsoft gas blowback pistol to be made under licence which I assume would be PTS Syndicate. I would not be surprised if one is made based on the KJ Works P226 and or the Tokyo Marui P226.
