SK Customs introduces the third instalment in its unique Saints series, a custom Colt 1911 honouring San Judas Tadeo, also known as Saint Jude. This limited-edition firearm is an artistic tribute, merging a classic American pistol design with the profound iconography of one of the Catholic Church's most widely revered figures, particularly within Mexican and Latin American culture. For those seeking a unique piece that tells a layered story of history, devotion, and artistry, this Colt 1911 chambered in .38 Super presents an intriguing opportunity.

The figure of San Judas Tadeo is one of the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ. To avoid confusion with the infamous Judas Iscariot—a problem for him since, well, forever—he became known as Jude Thaddeus. He serves as the patron saint of lost causes and desperate situations, a patronage that developed because his name was avoided for centuries, making him the "forgotten" saint who became the last resort for the hopeless. It seems fitting that the person you call when everything else has failed is now immortalized on a collector's piece of such detailed craftsmanship.
The devotion to San Judas is deeply embedded in Mexican culture, dating back to the colonial era and flourishing substantially in the mid-20th century. He is viewed as a powerful intercessor, especially by the poor, the marginalized, and those facing seemingly insurmountable obstacles, such as legal troubles or addiction. This popularity is most visibly demonstrated on October 28th, his feast day, when tens of thousands of faithful flock to the San Hipólito Church in Mexico City, the historical epicentre of his veneration.
His image is a vibrant symbol of hope, perseverance, and divine intervention for these communities. While the official Church sometimes expresses concern over his more recent folk association with delinquents and "street youth"—a testament to his role as a saint who doesn't judge the desperate—his universal appeal is undeniable. He represents the comfort that, no matter how bad your situation is, there is a source of strength and aid. You can find his likeness everywhere from home altars and vehicle dashboards to jewellery.

This collector's item is a Full Size Government Model Colt 1911, restricted to a production run of only 500 units, each individually numbered. The firearm itself becomes a canvas for religious symbolism, starting with the deep Colt Royal Blue finish which provides a rich background for the extensive 24k gold plating on the slide and controls. The high polish on the frame, slide, and barrel further enhances the piece, ensuring it is as visually striking as the traditions it honours.
The slide engravings are meticulous, weaving Christian symbols into the metal. The left and right sides feature delicately engraved doves, representing the Holy Spirit, encircled by flames to symbolize Pentecost. Also adorning the slide are Columba flowers, whose shape resembles a dove. Each stem typically holds seven blossoms, a detail meant to signify the Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit. It's certainly a more elaborate arrangement than your average bouquet of flowers.

At the very top of the slide, a detailed engraving depicts San Judas Tadeo himself. He is shown holding his traditional staff and a medallion bearing the face of Jesus. This medallion alludes to the legend of the Mandylion of Edessa, a cloth said to have miraculously retained Christ’s features. The left side of the slide panel displays this Mandylion directly, a relic believed to have been used by St. Jude to heal King Abagar.
The piece is completed with elegant Green Pearl Kirinite grips, a nod to the saint’s traditional green robe, and features the iconic Rampant Colt emblem inlaid in gold. Each pistol's unique edition number is scrolled onto the back right panel of the slide.
