Springfield Armory, renowned for its iconic 1911 pistols, has introduced the 1911 Agency Optic System (AOS). This new line of handguns seamlessly blends the timeless design of the 1911 with the modern necessity of optics integration, offering shooters unparalleled versatility and performance.
The AOS platform, developed in collaboration with Agency Arms, is highly customizable. It features interchangeable plates that can accommodate a variety of popular red dot sights. This modular design allows shooters to tailor their handguns to their individual needs and shooting preferences.

The AOS-compatible pistols are shipped with a cover plate featuring a traditional rear sight, maintaining the classic aesthetics of the 1911. However, additional AOS plates designed for various optics can be purchased separately, allowing shooters to easily switch between different sights. Springfield Armory is also offering an enticing deal: purchasers of a 1911 AOS pistol can receive a discounted optic plate for just $49.

The initial lineup of 1911 AOS pistols includes the Emissary, Operator, and Ronin models, available in both 9mm and .45 caliber and in 5-inch and 4.25-inch barrel lengths. Notably, Springfield Armory has expanded its Operator line with the introduction of the 1911 Operator 4.25" AOS, featuring a lightweight aluminum frame.
“The 1911 is easily the most respected — and proven — pistol in history,” said Steve Kramer, Springfield Armory’s Vice President of Marketing. “With the new 1911 AOS, Springfield Armory is taking a revered 20th-century design and updating it for the 21st century with the ability to accept a wide range of today’s most advanced optics.”

Springfield Armory's 1911 Agency Optic System represents a significant advancement in the world of handgun technology. By combining the proven reliability of the 1911 platform with the versatility of modern optics, these pistols offer shooters a powerful and customizable tool for self-defense and competitive shooting.
