This transition was driven by a desire for a lighter, more maneuverable platform that can easily switch between 5.56 and .300 Blackout rounds. While the HK416 relied on a bulky gas piston system, the N4 uses a slim direct impingement setup, making it feel less like a heavy gym weight and more like a streamlined tool for maritime operations.
