The second most famous character created by Tom Clancy after Jack Ryan is John Clark, the former Navy SEAL who later became a CIA operative who handled the direct action missions. He became the Director of Rainbow Six, the multinational counter-terrorism unit when Jack Ryan became president.

Soon, he’ll be in the living rooms starting on 30 April as the film “Without Remorse” which is the origin story of John Clark, will livestream via Amazon Prime Video.

“Without Remorse” is based on the Tom Clancy’s “Without Remorse” which was first published in 1993. For those familiar with Tom Clancy’s books, the movie is far from the novel when John Clark was still John Kelly, such as the death of his wife in a car accident, his encounters with drug dealers, the botched rescue of POWs in Vietnam, and how he faked his death with the help of the CIA to escape being arrested by Jack Ryan’s father, Detective Emmet Ryan, and was given a new identity as John Clark.

Tom Clancy's Without Remorse, or simply Without Remorse, is an upcoming American action thriller film starring Michael B. Jordan directed by Stefano Sollima and written by Taylor Sheridan and Will Staples. It is based on the 1993 novel of the same name by Tom Clancy and a spin-off of the Jack Ryan film series.

The film tells the origin story of John Kelly (aka John Clark), a U.S. Navy SEAL, who uncovers an international conspiracy while seeking justice for the murder of his pregnant wife by Russian soldiers. When Kelly joins forces with fellow SEAL Karen Greer and shadowy CIA agent Robert Ritter, the mission unwittingly exposes a covert plot that threatens to engulf the U.S. and Russia in an all-out war.

Michael B. Jordan is the third actor to play the John Clark Character after William Defoe (“Clear & Present Danger”) and Liev Schreiber (“The Sum of All Fears”). “Without Remorse” was set for a theatrical release by Paramount Pictures but was unable to due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Amazon eventually acquired the rights to stream the movie on Prime Video.
