SIG SAUER as a firearms company, has a long history of producing firearms and is one of the biggest firearms company in the world. In recent years, the company has been chalking up wins with its handguns and rifles, especially having one of the biggest clients in the world --- the U.S. Military by winning the MHS program of the U.S. Army with the P320 pistol as the new official sidearm that eventually was adopted by the other branches.
As of the moment, it is competing for the New Generation Squad Weapon (NGSW) program that will replace the M4 and M249 as the service weapons of the U.S. Army. By the looks of it, the company is the frontrunner in the program. Also, it is only one of the rare of firearm companies that have established its own airsoft division, the SIG Air ProForce, and thus, recent SIG Sauer airsoft guns are direct from the company though production is outsourced to existing airsoft manufacturers such as VFC.
Airsoft players wanting to know more about the company can look forward to the release of the Vickers Guide: SIG SAUER Volume 1 Book that will be released before the end of 2020. Written by Larry Vickers with Ian McCollum of Forgotten Weapons and James Rupley as photographer, Volume 1 will cover origins of SIG SAUER through the 1900s and up to the present day, with a look into the SIG SAUER Museum and SIG SAUER AG manufacturing facilities in Neuhausen am Rheinfall, Switzerland, SIG SAUER manufacturing facilities in New Hampshire and visits to private collections in Switzerland and the United States. Recently though, they closed down their German weapons factory.
Firearms that will be featured in this volume are the pistols, submachine guns and pistol-calibre carbines. Volume 2 which is expected to be released next year, will be about the rifles, support weapons, and other special weapons.
Pre-orders are now being accepted with the Standard Edition at US$94.99, Signature Edition at US$126.00 and the Personalization Bundle at US$200.00.
