Air Pix

Let’s admit it. Many of us in airsoft would love to have our photos in game for some action shots or in the safe zone with our gear. The problem in the field is that apart from mounted action cams on rifles, it’s hard to take photos or videos of ourselves without having a game photographer in the field too.

So you think of drones. But adding another weight to your gear is another question, and there is no easy way to store a drone in your gear. Not to worry then as there is an affordable and pocketable camera drone that you can bring to the field with you when it gets into production with your support. It is called Air Pix.

On Indiegogo right now raising some funding and have actually smashed through its original funding goals with three days to spare. The makers of Air Pix claim that it is the smallest, lightest, and most affordable hands-free aerial camera ever.

The technology of having a hands-free camera drone is already mature. Drone makers have been releasing drones that act to hand gestures as commands like taking a selfie or a video. Since it is an aerial drone, Air Pix can take photos and videos at many angles. In an airsoft game you can make it take photos or videos of the action from above, at eye level, or even below eye level. Since it is pocketable, you can stow it to your BDU’s side pockets, trouser pockets, or better yet, in the admin pouch of your vest or chest rig.

Still not convinced? Then here are the features of Air Pix:

  • Smaller Than Your Phone - 102x85x13mm
  • Lightweight - 52g
  • Full HD 1920x1080p @30fps Videos
  • 12MP FOV 70° Camera
  • Autonomous Flight

  • Facial Recognition
  • iOS and Android APP

What we like about Air Pix is that you can livestream to your fans on Facebook or YouTube with the mobile app. If worried on how Air Pix can take photos or videos of you whilst you are in the middle of an airsoft firefight, there are automated flight plans already stored that it can follow so just do what you’re doing an Air Pix will do the rest. Just make sure it’s fully charged.

If you want to be one of the first owners, then better head off to Indiegogo. The Super Early Bird will get you one Air Pix for US$79. If that’s cheap for you, then they have twin or four packs to go and you can combine even more footage these.

Apart from in-game selfies, you might even use it for some quick recon of the area in search of the OPFOR. Better put the Air Pix to full use in airsoft when you get one.
