For cosplayers, comic fans, gamers, sci-fi and fantasy fans, this weekend, from the 24th to the 26th of May, will be another for gathering in one place as many will converge at Excel London for the London leg of the MCM Comic Con. MCM Comic Con events are held the UK and Ireland and these events cover movies, gaming, comics, Anime, television, gadgets, clothing, and toys.

We were there last year and it is a fun event to see people in various outfits, wearing their favourite characters or show their devotion to whatever their fans of. We have wondered if there are any airsoft players in their gear going to these events and we spotted a few. It is recommended for airsoft players to attend these events as it can also be a good recruitment ground and have more fresh blood in airsoft. No need to spend gear as existing airsoft gear can always be used a Cosplay costume.

Whilst realistic looking imitation guns are allowed at the event, airsoft guns, BB guns, deactivated guns , paintball guns or metal gun props are not allowed. Even some imitation guns using parts of these as a base are not permitted. Those that are allowed are those toy guns with a brightly coloured muzzle tips that is clearly visible from most angles or if the imitation toy gun has a significantly brightly coloured portion. Two-tone airsoft guns are not allowed.

For those who want to pose for photos, which Cosplayers love, having coloured muzzle tips can be an issue. The organisers allow for such coloured muzzle tips to be removable for photo ops but they need to put the coloured muzzle tips right after a photo op.

We recommend airsoft game site owners and gear sellers to look into having booths at these events. There is always business to do there as Cosplayers are willing to spend money to gear that they think can fit their costumes and some would be interested in airsoft as well. We have spotted paintball sites having a presence, so why can’t airsoft sites?
