Amidst the attention being mainly devoted to the Covid-19 pandemic, the work of government continues on since it ensures the survival of nations and prevents their descent into anarchy. Even the legislative branch will have to trundle on since laws are needed to respond to situations, attend to pressing matters, and work on the backlog of proposed legislation. In this case, the Cabinet of Western Australia and the Australian Labor Party will be debating on the WA Airsoft Bill as supported by Aaron Stonehouse MLC next week.
Stonehouse, a member of the Liberal Democrats, has been supportive of legalizing airsoft in Western Australia and the success of such effort can affect the national movement of airsoft to be a truly recognised hobby in the Australia. He has been working together with the Western Australia Club and informed the club of the debate next week as posted on the club’s Facebook page:
For supporters of the airsoft in Western Australia, it’s time again to show support so the bill gets moving through the WA Parliament. Writing to the local MPs from the Labor Party (they are the party in power in Western Australia) might persuade them to support the bill, given that they have 40 seats in a total of 95 seats as the Liberals which Stonehouse belongs hold 14 seats.
The Western Australia Airsoft Club, with the support of other groups, will have to do its work to ensure the airsoft bill is alive and to motivate Stonehouse to push for the bill towards its legalisation.
Amongst Western democracies, Australia is the only country that does not allow airsoft.
Erratum: Previously, it is written that Stonehouse is a member of the Liberal Party. He is a member of the Liberal Democrats and the article has been updated accordingly (Ed.)
