Before you get excited about the announcement of the Wilson Combat Tactical 6mm ARC Rifles, please do take note that the 6mm calibre of this rifle is not the 6mm plastic BBs that we use with our airsoft guns. Instead, this is about the 6mm ARC (Advanced Rifle Cartridge) round that Hornady started producing in 2020 as a low-recoil, high-accuracy long-range cartridge made for the AR-15 platform.

Not only did Wilson Combat introduce a 6mm ARC rifle, they are introducing two versions, the WC-15 Recon Tactical for personal defense and the WC-15 Tactical Hunter which is made for hunting (of course). Both rifles feature 18” fluted/threaded with a 1-7.5” twist. For the Recon Tactical, the barrel is also match-grade. It is also a little longer at 35.25 inches as compared to the Tactical Hunter 33.5 inches.

These are interesting rifles given that the 6mm ARC round is gaining more adherents amongst competition shooters, personal defense owners, and hunters. I can’t speak for the airsoft community if this is something that they want to have an airsoft version given that the market is awash in airsoft rifles modeled after the AR platform.

But Wilson Combat is a popular brand in the airsoft market with the licensed airsoft pistols produced under the SOCOM Gear brand and Western Arms of Japan making its Wilson Combat Gas Blowback Pistols albeit we cannot recall a Wilson Combat rifle was ever licensed for the airsoft market. Perhaps the 6mm ARC Rifles can generate a new interest in airsoft versions of Wilson Combat guns.

The 6mm ARC or Advanced Rifle Cartridge was designed by Hornady to be the highest performance long-range cartridge available in a standard AR platform rifle.

Initially tested and fielded by US Special Operations forces, the 6mm ARC utilizes efficient, high-BC bullets to deliver unprecedented long-range performance with a wide variety of available bullets.

Wilson Combat offers the 6mm ARC 18 inch fluted, threaded, match-grade barrels in our 6mm ARC Tactical Hunter rifle.  All barrels are rifled with a 1 and 7.5 twist.

The Tactical Hunter is the ideal AR for hunting or general tactical and defensive use. The adjustable butt stock gives you the ability to adapt the gun’s size to various size shooters. The Wilson Combat M-LOC rail is lightweight but rugged and designed for heavy use.

The Lightweight Billet Upper and Billet Lower Receiver are machined from solid Aluminum.

Commercial 6mm ARC loads feature bullets selected to deliver ideal performance for hunting, match shooting, and personal protection applications. The 6mm ARC uses commonly available 6.5 Grendel magazines and bolts.
