Airsoft YouTubers who want to earn revenues creating airsoft content, it is a hit and miss affair. With policies of YouTube affecting airsoft (and firearms-related channel), revenues have been down from YouTube advertising, save for some who were able to wring a lot of revenues before these policies went into effect and able to diversify their income sources outside of YouTube.

While there are ways for airsoft YouTubers to generate income such as merchandising, Patreon, and stickers, they are always on the lookout for more sources. Just last week, YouTube introduced “Super Thanks” as a way for viewers to thank content creators directly:

Since launching Super Chat in 2017 and Super Stickers in 2019, creators from around the globe have wanted us to bring this magic beyond livestreams and Premieres to video uploads. Enter Super Thanks! Fans watching YouTube videos can now purchase Super Thanks to express their gratitude and show support. They will see an animated GIF and, as an added bonus, get a distinct, colorful comment to highlight their purchase, which creators can respond to. Super Thanks is currently available at four price points between $2 and $50 (or local currency equivalent). Just like Super Chat and Super Stickers, Super Thanks does double duty for creators: keeping their connections with (super) fans meaningful, while also giving them a new way to make money.

Super Thanks is currently in beta and with today’s expansion, is now available to thousands of monetizing creators. The feature is available to creators and viewers in 68 countries on desktop and mobile devices (Android and iOS). Creators can check if they have early access by following the instructions here. If they don’t yet have access, fear not -- we will be expanding availability to all eligible creators in the YouTube Partner Program later this year.

For Airsoft YouTubers they can enable “Super Thanks” if they have the “Monetisation” section working on their YouTube Studio and if there is a “Supers” tab in this section. If there is no “Supers” tab, it cannot be enabled for now. Also it is not available for the following types of videos:

• Age-restricted
• Unlisted
• Private
• Made for kids
• Videos with Content ID claims
• Videos with YouTube Giving fundraisers
• Live streams or Premieres, while live (available on archived VODs afterwards)

There are high quality Airsoft YouTube Channels out there and we’re pretty sure you follow a bunch of them. But creating such quality videos do entail a lot of hard work and these YouTubers invest in better quality equipment, write scripts, do editing and sometimes they do it fulltime which means it’s their main bread and butter. By thanking them via “Super Thanks” you can support them in your own small way.
