Airsoft Safety Foundation Urges You To Write Your Opposition To SB798

Logan

The proposed California SB798, which will leave the power of regulating replica firearms to local governments in the State, was supposed to go on its Third Reading in the State Assembly. However, it wasn't discussed as scheduled last 15 August due to more pressing proposed legislation and it's still in queue and may just be discussed on Monday, 23 August 2011. This gives more time for its opponents to gather more letters and petitions to Assembly members.

While the airsoft community and its allies get to busy themselves in opposing the Bill, the Paintball Industry is on the opposite urging its members and their supporters to help the bill pass though a good number of paintball players oppose the Bill and are in disgust with their industry's wholehearted support for SB798.

The Airsoft Safety Foundation goes straight to the point urging everyone to write letters to members of the Assembly. This time there should be no letup in the letter writing, and burning the lines to call up members to make clear of such opposition to the Bill.

Even if you are not in California, you can still help the airsoft community there. You can write letters to the members of the Assembly, but this may have little bearing as they would give weight more to what their constituents write about, since they are the ones who can vote. What can be done for those from out of state, and even out of the US is to contact anyone they know who lives in California, and convince them to oppose the bill. They do not necessarily be airsoft players but can be friends, relatives, and even acquaintances. So you better look into your contacts list in your Rolodex (if it's relevant to you), your mobile phone book, your email contact list, and even your Facebook friends.

Below is a screenshot of the press release from the Airsoft Safety Foundation. You can download this and email it to your contacts so they will know what to do. Also best for you to give them the link to the Airsoft Safety Foundation for them to read the issues and what's at stake for the airsoft community.

So get the word out, the more voices of opposition heard, the more the chances of the bill not getting approved. Click now on the image below to download the Airsoft Safety Foundation's press release.
