As the War In Ukraine continues on, leading to terrible losses in life and property, many international sports organizations, following in the footsteps of Western governments, financial institutions, and companies have been cancelling scheduled international sporting events in Russia.
What’s more is that athletes and teams from Russia and Belarus are banned from competing in international events as a sign of growing isolation of the country. While the Russian people themselves are not being blamed for the actions of Putin and his government, they are bearing the brunt of this international isolation as the sanctions and bans are starting to bite with the Russian economy in a free fall.
The International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) in a meeting of their Executive Council on Monday, announced that that they cancelling the Action Air World Shoot Sochi which was rescheduled for 2023. Furthermore, “they condemn the breach of peace committed by the Russian government” avoiding calling the ongoing conflict as “War” or “Invasion”. A number of sporting organizations have issued stronger terms and their solidarity with the people of Ukraine.
They also announced the cancellation of international matches scheduled in Russia.
Vitaly Kruchin, who is from Russia, is the incumbent IPSC President.
