New Mobile App Lets You Coordinate Airsoft Teammates

Gungho Cowboy

There have been attempts to put on some real-time GPS or motion tracker of your teammates and even the OPFOR for airsoft games but none of those seemed to have caught on among airsoft players. Either the software is cumbersome to use or the hardware is just too expensive. These have been in the market for some time now and to be honest I haven't seen anyone use any of these at the airsoft sites I play in.

AirScan is the latest app to give you a more high-tech way of playing airsoft games without encumbering you with extra costs of buying another gadget, and makes its interface easily understandable and useable for airsoft players.

Even as a real time airsoft tactical application, AirScan just requires the users to have their Android or iOS smartphones which also come with their built-in GPS and maps and thus, the developers of AirScan, Fubustudio, just had to build the app to take on the existing features.  Provided that you also have a good data plan, you will be able to use AirScan in no time.

AirScan costs £2.44 at the Google Play Store, so that's the other cost but which is negligible as compared to buying a whole new gadget for this purpose. With the app installed, all you need to do is go to a skirmish field with your teammates and if all the other players in the game have their Android or iOS smartphones and have the app installed, just "Start New Match", add Teams, and the players per team and then you can start the game.

You can monitor your teammates on the map, as well as the OPFOR. If you get to "eliminate" an OPFOR in a certain part of the map, you can mark it. You can configure the app to make you more stealthy such as lowering the volume, dimming the screen and the like.

Sounds neat eh? Well, we can't tell yet how well it works on the field, especially some skirmish sites have poor cell site coverage and thus can affect data transfer. Furthermore, it also depends on the data plans of airsoft players. If this eats bandwidth fast, then it might prove costly. But if you have tried it, then we would love to hear fromStill, AirScan is a promising application for airsoft players who prefer to remove the "fog of war" in an airsoft game and at the same time be able to coordinate and locate teammates on the map. £2.44 is not  a heavy price to pay so you might as well download and try it yourself. you.

You can find AirScan also at Facebook and Google Play.
