6mm Badger Installs The KPYK AKS-74U Furniture

Check this video by the 6mm Badger as he installs the KPYK AKS-74U furniture unto the VFC AVS74U... "Today’s video is another AKS-74U tech / install video… and once again, it turns into one of those installs where things don’t go exactly to plan.

In a previous video where I was installing the Midwest Industries handguard on my VFC AKS-74U, a subscriber commented recommending KPYK furniture, saying they run it on all their AK builds and absolutely love it.
So naturally… I went straight to their site and ordered some parts.

In this video I unbox and attempt to install:

  • KPYK CRC 1U043 – AKS-74U Short Handguard
  • KPYK CRC 2U079 – Optic Mount / Top Rail
  • KPYK CRC 9039 – QD Sling Mount

And I’ll say this right away — the KPYK furniture itself is fantastic.

The finish, fit, feel in the hand, and overall design are genuinely excellent, and I actually prefer it to the Midwest Industries setup in terms of ergonomics and handling.

Unfortunately… while reinstalling the locking collar on the AKS-74U, I manage to snap the ratcheting lock mechanism on the replica itself.

So the rest of the video becomes me figuring out how to make this work without a proper locking system.

This turns into another “bad tech video” — but somehow, with the help of the legendary Mr Tono screwdriver set, tension, patience, and mild panic… it actually works in the end.

The top rail installs perfectly, the handguard ends up solid, and the replica is usable — but yes, I did technically damage the gun again.

This video is:

  • An honest install
  • A genuine look at KPYK furniture
  • Proof that sometimes the parts aren’t the problem… the installer is."
