6mm Badger gets to review the VFC Maxim Defense PDX after it was almost seized by customs... "Getting my hands on this VFC Maxim Defense PDX is a big deal. Yeah, this is awesome for a lot of reasons, but the main one is the ongoing issue with importing VFC AR lowers into the US. For a while now, they've been getting seized by customs, making it incredibly difficult for players and collectors to get them. Unlike VFC AKs, which seem to come through without a problem, the AR platforms have been a real gamble. So, seeing this box arrive felt like a huge win, not just for me, but hopefully as a good sign for the wider community.

In this video, I'm taking you through the full unboxing of the VFC Maxim Defense PDX. We'll get it out of the cardboard box and take a close look at the build quality and all the features straight from the factory. I also had an idea for a quick customization right away. I grabbed my O.G. Carbonworks Fatboy 50 Chode to see how it would look on this compact platform. I was really hoping to get that beefy, integrated look with the muzzle device sitting inside the rail.

Unfortunately, it didn't quite go as planned. I think it would look so unbelievably cool if that fat chode fit in there, but it just will not fit. The diameter is too large for the handguard opening. I considered that it might work if I added a small barrel extension to push it forward, but I'm not really that keen on that solution anyway. While I was brainstorming, I also thought a Strike Industries tracer or even a Mantis suppressor cover might look kind of cool on there, though the cover might also look a bit weird on such a short setup.

For now, I'm just thrilled to have this airsoft platform in my hands. The fact that it made it through US customs without any issues is a huge relief. If this is an indication that they're starting to let stuff through again, that's great news for everyone who's been waiting to get their hands on new VFC gear. It's a frustrating situation, but a successful delivery like this brings a little bit of hope."
