6mm Badger takes a closer look at the Canik SFX Rival airsoft pistol, reviewing some of its unique quirks before attempting to upgrade its performance. Initially, the pistol performs reasonably well straight out of the box, showing a standard level of power but featuring a rather unusual trigger wall mechanism and a distinct rear cocking indicator. To give the gun a little boost, he breaks down the pistol, a process similar to dismantling a Glock, though thankfully with tabs that are a bit more forgiving to pull.
The main mission of the video involves swapping out the stock brass barrel and red bucking for a slightly longer Maple Leaf Crazy Jet inner barrel and a quad quantum bucking. After a bit of careful screwdriver work to avoid the tragedy of stripped screws, the new parts are successfully nestled into the hop-up assembly. 6mm Badger puts the firearm back together, noting that the snug fit of the new parts seems promising for accuracy even if the installation requires leaving out an extra replacement nub.
The grand finale on the chronograph does not exactly yield a triumphant explosion of power, initially causing mild panic when the numbers take a noticeable dive. Adjusting the hop-up wheel saves the day from total disaster and brings the consistency back up to an acceptable range, though it still fires with less raw power than the factory setup. He ends by saying that while the upgrade process is straightforward, the new parts might need some break-in time or backyard accuracy testing to prove their worth, leaving the door open for a future update.
