Spartan117gw Statement On His Military Service

OptimusPrime

Ravising Rick Dude gave us a heads up on this Facebook post by Greg Wong, aka "Spartan117gw". It seems that there are detractors accusing him that he's doing some "Stolen Valor" scam which the airsoft community is not immune from given that there are airsoft players claiming to have served in this unit, or that unit, but found out to be just plain poseurs.

Spartan117gw is not what others accuse him to be and here' is his statement:

Hey guys a few folks have set out to tarnish my Military service with false accusations and claims. I stand by my accomplishments and am proud to serve my country to the best of my ability. Some state I claimed to be a Ranger. This is not only false but would be very foolish for anyone not wearing the scroll to claim (VERY VERY foolish). ( I'd give a million bucks to who can find that statement in black in white lol good luck)

There was confusion as to my background and to clarify.

I've been a proud Paratrooper my entire career. Did roughly 2 years with the 82nd Airborne, 2 years in Japan with some amazing people in the 78th signal. And wrapped up my service back at Fort Bragg, a home a way from home. Spent the last part of my career with the 112th Signal Battalion (SO) (A). Got to have many awesome adventures along the way between all these amazing units. No false claims were ever made. No crazy ninja jedi tabs or anything like that. During both my time with the 82nd and the 112Th I was denied Deployment almost at the last minute due to Hereditary Health issues. I was given the option to either wait a full year to try again for fulfill the remainder of my contract. With how good things were going outside of the Army I decided to get my freedom back and switched to reserves.

My Linkedin has been vetted for by several fellow veterans including from various communities at Fort Bragg.

All in all hope this clarifies any crazy allegations. I feel sorry for those whom have been mislead. Thanks for the support from the awesome community! (Attached is the ETS Award)

If you gotta problem go find yourself a Jump Master or get your butt to US Army Airborne School, Fort Benning and find out what an Opening shock from an C-130 feels like.
