The MP7 is a German Heckler & Koch submachine gun, responding to the principle "Advanced Personal Defense Weapon" (APDW). They are intended to provide troops who are not directly employed in combat with a significant response capacity.

The final version of the MP7A1 has been equipping certain units of the Armed Forces in Germany since 2004. A certain number of copies are in service with the GIGN in France and in certain special forces units in South Korea. It is also used by the Navy SEALS.
