Robert sent in news this weekend aboout the Viper/Vipertech Colt Model 653 M16A1 Carbine GBB in stock at CWI Airsoft. It is part of the CAR-15 family based on the AR-15 and M16. The Model 653 was part of the M16A1 Carbines with retractable stock and was the most ordered among the other M16A1 carbine models such as the 651, 652 and G54. Whilst seen in the movie "Platoon" where it was used by William Dafoe and Tom Berrenger, it was not used during the Vietnam war but has seen action in the Yom Kippur war as used by the IDF.

Features of the Viper Colt Model 653 M16A1 Carbine

1. The airsoft version, just like the original one, has maintained the bayonet lug to mount an M16 bayonet.
2. Also mentioned is that marking is "M16A1" rather than "XM-177". Whilst the XM-177 is part of the CAR-15 family, it was not designated by Colt as part of the M16A1 Carbines and more known also as the CAR-15 Commando.
3. This is based on the Vipertec 2012 version that comes with the square bolt stop base. This is forged Aluminium CNC'D receiver and charging handle, CNC'd buffer tube with all inner parts being made of steel. Other steel parts are the CNC'd outer barrel, Delta Ring, Front Sight,  and Flash Hide.
4. Comes with long EB gas magazine.
