It's a Celebrity feature today, courtesy of Thumpy as he puts in his take on this Pippa Middleton story that is the topic amongst those who follow celebrity stories on this side of the Pond. With the sister of the latest addition to the Royal Family also being a celebrity on her own right, any juicy tidbits that can be written about her is worth the money for the tabloids. Unfortunately, this one may just alarm the Royal Family.
Here is what Thumpy says from his Scoop.it Channel:
Could the Pippa gun incident be the biggest AIR STUPID ever?
"Prince William's new sister-in-law is expected to be questioned by police after her companion pointed the realistic-looking weapon at a photographer who was following them."
From the Dailymail.co.uk story...link here...even if the gun was a fake/airsoft pistol, the penalities under French law are severe!
"If the gun was real, those involved in the incident face up to seven years in prison. If it is a fake, they could be jailed for two years."
And, an interesting twist: If the pistol came from a French retail source, it is more than likely that it ORIGINALLY came from the trademark holder in France...and you know who THAT is, Thumpy followers....Cybergun. Take a look at the photos, and decide for yourself...
"Sources indicated that the weapon looked similar to a Sig Sauer P226, used by numerous law enforcement and military organizations worldwide as well as by personal bodyguards."
We do agree that the man, who remains unidentified as of this writing, just committed an idiotic act. We'll let Pippa off the hook on this, as it wasn't her own making. It was just coincidence to be in the company of a man who just wants to show off, pointing a gun in public, and being proud of it. I don't know if Pippa's impressed, but with this brouhaha, she might not.
We'd rather have the full strength of the French law fall upon this guy, whether he's carrying a real firearm, a replica, an airsoft gun, or even a pistol lighter. There are other ways to avoid all these photographers and not being put into danger. But to do this stupid thing of brandishing a gun, even if the photographers say it's a plastic one according to The Australian, would have put everyone in danger if seen by French Police and could have reacted to it with their guns drawn as they're cracking down on gun crime given the spate of shootings that happened in France just recently.
Funny for Thumpy to try and tie it to Cybergun, though the company has nothing to worry about. If indeed it's an airsoft replica made by Cybergun, it's more of a responsibility of the user on how to handle the replica, given that he is an adult, albeit an irresponsible one.
This always serves a lesson not to bring out a gun in public, as you will create panic or confusion, much more point it at someone, even if in jest. You will put people in danger. Who knows? You might impress Pippa even more by just being a nice and responsible guy.
UPDATE 1234H GMT: The man who pointed the replica gun is Romain Rabillard, 36 a lawyer and a senior adviser to Heckler & Koch (H&K) according to the Daily Mail. So does this mean that the replica is from Umarex? ;)
