Shikoba Falls: Airsoft & Paintball Gone Too Extreme

Logan

Sometimes boredom can lead to something deadly. Someone sent us a link of a video about "really extreme airsoft" that was posted at Vimeo three days ago, and now has an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign. The video, which is the first of teasers to be released,  shows a young man, resting and then sniping another person with an airsoft sniper rifle.

However, the airsoft and paintball scenario in "Shikoba Falls" is no ordinary skrimish. Sheldon Norton, the film's director, describes the airsoft and paintball game in the film:

"The game in the film is called "hard ball" and consists of illegally modified airsoft and paintball guns. The guns have had various modifications in order to radically increase air pressure and use ammo such as ball bearings, darts and other deadly projectiles. Every player is on their own, all regular club rules are abandoned. It's a free for all of dangerous proportions and intentional injuries. No pain no game."

Such "no holds barred" games I've heard in some airsoft forums, where some players don't mind going to unsanctioned high fps games since for them "no pain, no gain."  The game centers around Tim who was pushed by his best friend to join an underground group of airsoft and paintball players who are bored with airsoft and paintball games that happen at skirmish fields.  He becomes a target by player who becomes obsessed at getting at him and a day of what should have been an extreme game of airsoft and paintball became the fight for his life.

Shikoba Falls is raising US$15,000 to pay for the lead actor, special effects, stunt coordination, and most especially, getting the film out of the door. There have been initial shoots for the film, hence the teaser video and if the first milestone of US$2,000, another teaser will be released. I have to admit, even if the first teaser is a bit long, I want to see more of it. But of course, if the film maker doesn't reach his funding goals, we might not be able to see it as it's a full length feature film project.

This is, I think, the second movie, if it gets completed, that shows an airsoft game that has gone wrong.  The first one that I can recall is a "War Games: At The End of The Day" in 2010 where friends playing an airsoft game stumbled into a secret and were forced to fight for their lives by three former soldiers hell-bent on keeping the secret.

If you think this project is worth your support, then see to it that it gets completed. The pledging at Indiegogo is slated to end on the 7th of July 2013.
