With the Victory Show 2013 recently held, Hyperdouraku filed a report about a new series that we at Popular Airsoft know about for ssome time now: the Light PRO Series from Tokyo Marui. We had to wait a bit until the Victory Show Japan to happen for us to finally write about this, and even the information that was given us was actually a surprise as we had no inkling about a new series from the company.
The Light PRO series are what we can call as Tokyo Marui's answer to the Sportline Series offered by other airsoft manufacturers as entry level airsoft guns. These are budget airsoft guns which are actually well received by airsoft players as they can be used as base guns for custom projects, and as backup airsoft guns when the primary breaks down.
Tokyo Marui's Light PRO Series are their entry level offerings and is comprised initially of the M4 CQB, MPA5 RAS, G36C , and the AK74U. Made with below 18 players in mind, these are not the same as the "BOYS" series as these are 1:1 scale that 18 and above players would be able to use. They were not able to release a similar offering last year and for this year, younger/minor age players can now have affordable series from Tokyo Marui.

However, unlike the Sportline Series, Tokyo Marui have made some changes to differentiate in their offerings, and this could be explained with their first release in the series: the Light PRO M4 CQB.

The Light PRO M4 CQB will be released on the 12th of April according to the information sent in by the company and to find out what differentiates this from the Sportlines, here are its features:
- They reproduced the custom model of M4 in 1:1 scale just like the real thing: a real life scale. Cocking and are also reproduced the pulling of the charging handle, and the stock length can be adjusted to six steps, and with carry handle also removable.
- Equipped with a handguard rail arranged to mount up, down, left and right hand rail on four sides of the guard rail with a width of 20mm which is found the same as picatinny rails. Accessories can be installed on different parts corresponding to the width of 20mm rail. In addition, by removing the carry handle optical sights can be installed, such as red dot sights.
- Dual firing System. This is what makes the Light PRO Series different. You can fire the M4 CQB just like an ordinary AEG with 5 Double A Batteries and when you run out of batteries, you can go for single shot air cocking by pulling the charging handle. This way you can still fight it out in the skirmish field after all batteries have run out. It's better than not being able to fire a single BB.
- You can only operate the selector on the side of the body, switch between fully automatic firing and semi-automatic firing: Switchable Full / Semi Auto so this simply means it's not ambidextrous. If you pull the cocking charging handle, it's just a single shot action even of the firing mode is in auto.
- The much admired Marui Hop-Up System is also included so you can adjust the Hop-Up to fire the BB accurately and for longer distances.
- The rear sight is adjustable just like the other M4 AEGs.
- This comes with a high capacity magazine of 340 rounds unlike the Marui New Gen series which come with mid-caps.
- The 5 Alkaline AA (Double A) batteries are stored in the stock.
The video below taken during the Victory Show can give you a quick walkthrough of these new series:
When the Tokyo Marui Light PRO M4 CQB gets released in ten days, the retail pricing in Japan will be at JPY14,800 or roughly US$160.00. We are curious what the gearbox of this series is, and if these can be also great base guns for custom projects.
