Licentia Arms Co. gives an overview of the Ops-Core FAST SF Gen 2 helmet which introduces several design updates compared to the previous ballistic model. A primary change is the shell weight, which has been reduced by approximately 3.7 ounces in the size large configuration. Despite this reduction in weight, the helmet maintains the same level of ballistic protection as its predecessor. The exterior also features a one-piece power path rail that allows users to route cables internally to reduce snag hazards.
The internal liner has been redesigned to improve comfort and modularity. Unlike the previous version which used a solid one-piece liner, the new system uses segmented pads and a shim system for sizing adjustments. This modular approach allows users to remove specific sections to create space for communication headsets or gas masks. The retention system has also been updated with a larger rear pad and a different dial mechanism to provide a more secure fit.
For those selecting a size, it is suggested that individuals on the measurement cusp should consider sizing up. The updated rear padding takes up more internal volume, and choosing a larger size provides more flexibility for wearing headwear underneath. While the older generation remains a functional option, these specific changes to the rail system, weight, and internal padding were developed based on feedback from people using the equipment in the field.
