TAPP Airsoft demo their The TM MWS Hybrid Lower prototype designed to let you use standard AEG M4 magazines with your gas blowback rifle. By integrating the adapter directly into the lower receiver, the shop managed to ditch the bulky look of traditional external adapters. It seems the goal was to make the setup look like a normal rifle again, rather than a science project with extra attachments hanging off the bottom.

While you gain the capacity of AEG magazines, you do lose the automatic bolt stop feature when the magazine runs dry. You can still lock the bolt back manually to show off or clear a jam, and the reciprocating action remains intact to provide that familiar kick. All your standard AR grips will fit, so you won’t have to give up your favorite ergonomic handle just to run this new setup.

Installation is designed to be a drop-in process that avoids permanent changes to your original parts. The kit includes the necessary small retainers and pins, allowing you to move your internal components over and back again if you change your mind. It is currently built around popular magazine models, but TAPP Airsoft are looking into wider compatibility for different upper receiver styles.
