Ground Zero Weekender 2010 After Action Report Part 3

OptimusPrime

Aarrrggghhhh!!! It's really hard to wake up after a tiring Saturday. I wasn't alone as most people started waking up an hour later than the previous day. It's always like this during Ground Zero where the last day is more subdued than the first two days. But it doesn't mean that the thrill of playing during the event has been diminished. The younger ones had more energy to be at the appointed time to resume the game, and the not-so-young, well, they had to do some more body stretching to loosen those muscles and bones upon waking up, just like diesel engines.

Remote Control of Troops' Brains gets DARPA Attention

Gungho Cowboy

If you have watched the George Clooney's "Men Who Stare at Goats" (2009) and heard about mind enhancement or mind control projects by the US Military for communications between troops, probably have not heard about a mind control project that has now gotten support from DARPA which is, as they put it, "troop's well-being." Nope, this does not use drugs for for those hoping that they would get a high with it.

US Army Women's Uniform to be redesigned

Logan

The debate on ACU vs OCP (Multicam) is still ongoing, but the OCP's getting there with troops being deployed to Afghanistan being issued the OCP or allowed to use the multicam pattern as it has proven to be effective in Afghanistan. This took effect last summer and that the pattern will be fully fielded by the end of the year to combat troops in that country. Besides this, a new front opened and this time it's in the female front.

Ground Zero Weekender 2010 After Action Report Part 2

OptimusPrime

It was a good decision to call it a night early. I woke up with a full bladder at around 0600H and had to run to the loo to empty whatever was left last night. After getting out of the portaloo, I was humbled by the view I saw as the morning sun's rays were hitting the Ringwood grounds, with the fog slowly dissipating, and creating a fantastic effect. I rushed immediately to my tent to grab the camera and take photos. I wouldn't miss this scene as it just showed me how wonderful the world is, especially early in the morning when everyone's asleep and the surroundings are quiet.

Giddiyap Cowboy! I want one of these DTV Shredders!

Gungho Cowboy

Unless Optimus Prime beats me to it. He emailed me at once about this product upon watching a prototype of this at the Gadget Show. Made by BPG-Werks, a Canadian company, it has various applications, such as for extreme off-roading which may just give snowboarding, skateboarding, and even motocrossing a stiff competition as this can go all weather; and for security, law enforcement, and military uses.

The Tactilite T2 .50 BMG (Big Mother Gunner)

Logan

Aherm. This one's not a full rifle as it's an Upper for the AR-15 made by Zel Custom. In the US, it's considered an accessory and thus will not require papers when purchased. The T2 is magazine fed using the 5-round .50 BMG magazine made by Accuracy International and its design was based on the feedback by law enforcement and firearms enthusiasts on the single-shot T1 made by the same company.

The Sig Sauer P226 Elite gets Enhanced

Logan

Short article, but something that you should look forward to in the future for an airsoft version. Personally, it's one of my favourite airsoft pistols and I have a developed an attachment to it, especially the TM P226 which is good for airsoft practical shooting. Just recently Sig Sauer announced that they have released the Sig Sauer "Enhanced Elite" models which basically are updates the P226 and the P229-1.

Meet the IWI ACE Family

Gungho Cowboy

Optimus Prime had his turn in writing about a product that he wants to have a replica version of. Now back to the firearms and as I have said last time, I went back to the Israel Weapon Industry (IWI) to dig up some guns that many would welcome to be represented in the airsoft world. And what I found is not only a line-up but this is a family that also has a good pedigree.

Meet the ACE Family and they trace their roots to the Galil and it is comprised of the following:

How about a replica of this for a change?

OptimusPrime

NO! Not the woman, the body armour! My colleagues have been writing about their wishes of real steel guns that should be replicated for airsoft use. For me, I'm more about having comfortable and lighter loadouts, as I always prefer a fighting load since I would not want to carry too many things on me. Being lighter means you can move faster, and speed kills. Drop Leg mag pouch, canteen pouch, holster, dump pouch and a radio, apart from the airsoft guns, would be enough for me.
