"The major difference with the new generation, or NV, of LCT AEGs is that they are complete designs from the ground up. As an example, the 4 piece outer barrel of the original RPK is gone in favor of a much more solid single piece unit. They also feature a more realistic takedown which AK enthusiasts will love. LCT has always been known for their craftsmanship and high quality of materials and this RPK doesn’t disappoint.

There is only one external part made of plastic; the pistol grip, which is plastic on the real gun. Otherwise every part that looks metal is metal and the quality of the wood finish is beautiful.  It’s also important to note that the metal is in fact steel. There are multiple high-quality upgrade parts installed as standard equipment. The gearbox essentially comes pre-upgraded with all major parts reinforced. It features steel gears, a full steel tooth piston, metal bushings, a cylinder kit with an o-ring air seal nozzle, a double o-ring aluminum cylinder head, polished chromium plated cylinder, and an aluminum bearing ported piston head. The spring-guide is plastic.  A comparable upgrade package that is professionally installed can easily cost over $150.

The compression in the cylinder is excellent and is comparable with high end aftermarket parts. Compressional efficiency is what all airsoft guns strive for because it results in less wear and tear on the gearbox and more velocity from the same strength spring. There are many other OEMs that simply put a stiffer spring in the gun to achieve higher FPS out of the box – this is not the ideal way to achieve performance in an airsoft gun, and it typically results in the gun being inconsistent and requiring substantially more maintenance than a gun that is optimized for efficiency. The piston is a polycarbonate type with removable steel teeth. Originally LCT had a piston which featured only half of the teeth reinforced as steel teeth. They have since upgraded to a full set of steel teeth. The piston head is an aluminum ported design. It features a bearing to reduce spring torsion during compression.

The LCT RPK is clearly one of the highest quality RPKs on the market. The new version of the gun is dramatically superior to the old, kit-based version of the gun. The RPK, along with the other updated LCT AK variants compare very favorably against most other AEGs on the market. Anyone looking for a high-end AK variant should be very pleased with the performance and quality of an LCT."
