Negative Airsoft's Modify Tyrant 2011 Review

A review and torture testing of the Modify Tyrant 2011 airsoft pistol by Negative Airsoft. He notes that while he generally finds high-cap pistols uninspired, this model introduces some interesting engineering choices. It includes a unique hop-up adjustment system built into the takedown lever and an adjustable power feature in the blowback unit, allowing users to fine-tune the muzzle energy using a simple key.

Although the very first sample unit suffered a catastrophic failure with a sheared outer barrel and a fractured slide after just a few shots, the manufacturer promptly sent replacement parts and a second complete gun. To see if the initial breakdown was a fluke, the Negative Airsoft subjects the second pistol to an aggressive series of tests. This includes heating the gas magazine to extreme temperatures and repeatedly slamming the gun against a table and a wall.

Despite the rough handling, the pistol continues to cycle and feed BBs effectively. He says that the initial failure was likely a rare defect rather than a design flaw. Given its robust performance under deliberate misuse and its affordable price point, the pistol is presented as a good option for players who are notoriously tough on their gear.
