Neo035 Analyzes The WinGun Nagant M1895 Airsoft Revolver

The historical Soviet Nagant M1895 revolver has received a modern airsoft adaptation courtesy of manufacturer Wingun which Neo035 scrutinizes in this video. Available in black, silver, and weathered finishes, this replica is built from sturdy metal alloy to give it a realistic heft and powered by standard 12g CO2 cartridges housed inside the grip. Collectors will appreciate the Soviet star and date stamp engravings on the left-hand side of certain editions, making it a handsome addition to any period-accurate uniform kit.

While it looks spectacular in a leather holster, anyone hoping to dominate the local skirmish field with this sidearm might want to temper their expectations. The lack of an adjustable hop-up system—which normally gives BBs their backspin and stable flight path—means the accuracy is rather unpredictable. Unless you fancy watching your shots curve wildly like a scene from a Hollywood action film, you may find yourself relying heavily on luck.

To make the revolver safe and usable for actual gameplay, owners typically have to restrict the high gas output. In a stroke of classic airsoft DIY, players previously stuffed plastic cotton bud stems or lollipop sticks inside the fake brass shells to restrict the airflow. Modern cardboard-stemmed cotton buds have sadly ruined this traditional remedy, meaning you will have to find alternative plastic tubing to bring the velocity down to sensible field limits.

Beyond the performance quirks, the replica features a few non-historical additions, such as a modern manual safety switch on the right side of the frame. Dedicated historical purists often go as far as removing this lever and filling the remaining holes with putty to restore the classic lines of the original Russian design. It is a temperamental piece of kit that shoots like a wet noodle out of the box, but as a decorative prop for historical impressions, it certainly hits the mark.
