Stupid Airsoft conducts an in-depth review of the WellPro AK-12 gas blowback airsoft rifle, specifically focusing on the V2 variant. Unlike traditional airsoft AK replicas that mimic real firearm mechanisms, this model utilizes an internal design based on Tokyo Marui's system. This choice aims to improve gas efficiency and durability. The rifle features a sturdy build with numerous steel components, a seven-position adjustable folding stock, and a unique dust cover pinning system that allows for stable optic mounting.
During field testing, the rifle demonstrates snappy performance and a distinct forward-kicking recoil. The adjustable velocity valve allows the user to shift the output from around 240 feet per second up to nearly 450 feet per second, offering flexibility for different gameplay environments. While the accuracy is decent for a standard rifle, the large magazine reservoir provides somewhat average gas efficiency depending on the power settings, and a few minor issues like a slightly loose proprietary pistol grip are noted.
A complete teardown reveals aluminum bolt components stabilized by O-rings, a steel buffer system, and an internal hammer assembly designed to minimize mechanical wear. Accessing the hop-up unit requires removing several pins and screws, which could make field adjustments a bit tedious. Stupid Airsoft comes to a conclusion that the brand has made notable progress in producing solid gas blowback options by leveraging reliable internal systems, making the rifle a viable choice for outdoor games right out of the box.
