Patrol Base Double Eagle M90 AEG Series

Stu talks about the Double Eagle M90 AEG variants that are available at Patrol Base... "The M90 range by double eagle offers an inexpensive and high-quality range of modern AR-15's for all Airsoft players. The replicas are constructed from a high-grade alloy and reinforced polymer, making for an extra ergonomic platform for ease of use/handling. Fitted with a new-age M-LOK handguard, a TS2 style stock and internally adorned with the latest in airsoft technology the DE M90 range is an all-around ready to go replica series suited to any and all players.

Starting at the muzzle, we can find an alloy flash hider/muzzle device, which attaches to the 14mm CCW male threads on the tip of the alloy outer barrel. Surrounding the outer barrel you will find an M-LOK handguard, a weight reducing design with plenty of space to add Picatinny rail or M-LOK accessories. The flip up iron sights can be found pre-installed on the upper Picatinny rail section of the handguard. These require manually deploying but are spring-assisted, meaning flipping these up or down takes less than a second.  The iron sights are made from high density polymer which helps keep the overall build light but effective. Both front and rear sight are fully adjustable without tools, and also provide low profile emergency pistol sights when folded down. The rear sight provides two apertures for aiming; a large aperture for CQB and close range, and a fine aperture for precise long range shots.

The M906 range provides a variety of external components, though between models the receiver and stock remain constant. The receiver is an ambidextrous AR15 pattern, with the mock ejection port present on the right side of the receiver complete with shell deflector and mock forward assist. The mock bolt carrier can be locked to the rear by pulling the ambidextrous charging handle, revealing the rotary HOP unit for adjustment. The mock bolt carrier can then be released either with the standard "ping pong paddle" on the left side of the receiver or with the ambidextrous extension on the right side, above and to the rear of the magazine catch. The magazine release is also present on either side, and is protected by a "mag catch fence" to prevent accidentally releasing the magazine. The mag releases appear where you might expect, on the mag well in perfect reach of the trigger finger, whether your strong hand is your left or right hand.

The ambidextrous fire selector is a familiar AR15 type 3-position switch, allowing safe/semi/auto to be selected when the Falcon FCS is set to default. The selector markings are cast into the receiver on both sides, a useful touch since the selector appears on both sides! The trigger of the M90 series is a flat type with an acute curve at the tip, allowing a speedy trigger pull whilst preventing your finger from slipping off.

The front face of the trigger is smooth, preventing you from wearing your fingerprints off whilst taking advantage of the M90 series fast trigger response. At the rear of the receiver, we can find two QD sling sockets cast into the design, keeping the rifles sling options in line with its ambidextrous nature whilst preventing the need for a buffer tube sling point and the additional weight which comes with it.

The pistol grip is an ergonomic design, matching the MOE grip in angle and shape but with added texturing on either side to keep the rifle firmly in the shooter's grasp, regardless of the weather conditions. The buffer tube is a standard M4/AR15 6 position tube which is fully compatible with aftermarket stocks intended for buffer tube mounting. The supplied stock is a close replica of the TS2 stock, providing an ultra-sleek design intended to minimize the potential for snagging whilst providing a rubberized, angled butt plate for stability. The stock includes a further 4 QD sling sockets, providing even more options when setting up your sling. The stock slider button is a protected trigger type, preventing accidental knocks and bumps from messing with your stock setting and keeping the design ultra-low profile.

The receiver also features engraved markings, reading 'FALCON Fire Control System' across the left side of the upper receiver, and 'DOUBLE EAGLE 5.56mm' along with a DE logo on the left side of the magazine well. These engravings are very crisp and subtle, keeping in tune with the rifle's overall aesthetic."
